Safety
Police Services and/or Security is suggested at your event when: you have a large event in an open area, you have the presence of VIPs/dignitaries or when other mitigating liability reasons make a security presence prudent for the safety of participants and/or the university. Police Services and/or Security may be required when you have alcohol consumption outside or in open spaces. See information about unarmed security services allowed at ASU.

Alcohol Permits:
Events held on campus or in ASU managed buildings that involve the service of alcohol require advanced permission and permits issued by ASU or the Department of Liquor License and Control. It is important to determine if an alcohol will be needed at least 90-120 days prior to the event due to set deadlines established by non-ASU entities. Insurance requirements specific to alcohol are also required from vendors. This process is separate from the university’s Special Event Registry. Visit the Office of Risk Management’s Alcohol Permits webpage for detailed information.
Youth Protection:
Any event specifically intended for participants under the age of 18, where ASU employees, faculty, or volunteers of the ASU Unit are solely responsible for the care, custody, and control of supervision or chaperoning of children must be registered with the Youth Protection Program. This is a separate registration from the university’s Special Event Registry. Please visit Risk Management’s Youth Protection Program website for more information.
